About us

Baron Group Malta began with two Gozitan entrepreneurs with a passion for architecture and above all the Island of Gozo. Their dream was to transmit the architectural heritage left by their fore fathers for future generations and travelers from around the world.

Enduring Vision

For more than 25 years Baron Holiday Homes has provided high quality self-catering apartments, villas and farmhouses on the beautiful island of Gozo. But we offer so much more than just rental accommodation.

We understand that a holiday is precious and our guests want to enjoy every single moment of their time away from home. That’s why we created the Baron Experience, which begins from the moment you book a Baron Holiday Home property.

First of all, we won’t be beaten on price so we offer our guests a Best Price Guarantee. And then, once you’ve made your booking, our team of local staff are happy to help with everything from car hire and airport transfers to booking an exciting range of activities on Gozo, from Segway tours to opera tickets.

We also offer a great range of extra In-house Services, including poolside massage, babysitting, and Baron dining-out vouchers - to help you make the most of your time on Gozo.

Xavier Tabone, Managing Director of Baron Holiday Homes says that the company’s founding vision to focus on quality rather than quantity continues today.

“Since the launch of our first rental property, Djar Ta Menzja, demand has grown year on year. Before we knew it we had created a brand with a strong reputation for excellence.

“We’re successful because we deliver outstanding, highly personalised customer service. Back in 1995 we started with a handful of clients. Today we have thousands from all over the world and we have clients who have returned to us for many years.

“We have the right properties and a fantastic operational team who work hard to make our clients' holidays as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

“We also take our responsibility towards Gozo's incredible architectural inheritance and natural beauty very seriously. So, we employ highly skilled local craftsmen who use traditional skills and methods when restoring or rebuilding our properties. We were one of the first companies to recycle rainwater and take energy-saving measures in our properties. We want to leave a lasting legacy on the island as our forefathers did before us.”

The Baron Team

Visitors love Gozo's unspoilt beauty. This tiny island is loved for its traditional, slow pace of life, its rustic scenery, and its secluded bays and beaches. It also has a fascinating ancient heritage including the Neolithic Ġgantija temples (a UNESCO World Heritage site).

The Baron Group is committed to safeguarding Gozo’s architectural and cultural heritage and not just by sensitively restoring traditional properties. We were proud to be actively involved in the restoration of another of Gozo’s ancient treasures – the fortified city of the medieval Cittadella in Gozo’s capital Victoria.

Over the past 20 years or so tourists have increasingly started to prefer booking a private, self-catering villa on Gozo rather than staying in a hotel.

A holiday in a beautifully restored old house in the countryside near the old villages, provides an opportunity for our guests to experience the genuine culture and village life on Gozo.

We predict this trend will continue as we restore more properties on Gozo and offer a full range of 5-star amenities, plus additional in-house services.

Gozo's biggest market is holidaymakers from the UK, but Baron Holiday Homes is also seeing an increase in tourists coming from many other European countries such as Germany, France, Poland, Italy, and further afield.

In terms of the non-European market, Baron Holiday Homes also caters for guests from the USA, the Middle East, New Zealand and Australia!

Mr Tabone says that the Baron Group will continue to identify and develop properties on Gozo and to promote the island as a unique holiday destination.

“Malta has good connectivity with all of Europe but we've found that discerning 5* clients want more connectivity between the Maltese Islands themselves.

“The Maltese government has considered developing a small airport on Gozo, but this is likely to be low key project, with limited environmental impact. More recently there is a proposal for a tunnel linking the main island of Malta with Gozo.”
