Sparks will fly – romantic spring on Gozo

Firework Festival – 27 April 2019

Fireworks play an important part in the cultural life of the Maltese Islands, forming the climax of many village festas and religious events.

To celebrate the skills of local fireworks companies, the village of Xaghra on Gozo is hosting the Gozo part of the Maltese International Firework Festival on the evening of Saturday 21 April 2018.

Maybe watching what is bound to be a spectacular pyrotechnic and musical display with that special someone will create a lasting spark?

What could be more romantic than spending time with your loved one gazing up at the stars? Gozo is a great place to enjoy the night sky, especially away from the lights of the villages.

Every August the skies above Gozo and Malta are visited by the Perseid meteor shower. In the Maltese Islands, these shooting stars are known as the Tears of San Lawrenz and people like to make a wish when they spot them.

The 17th century Dwerja Tower on Gozo’s west coast makes a romantic backdrop from which to star gaze, and maybe pop the question?

Gozo’s Festival of Lights – or Fjakkolata – takes place every year just outside the village of Santa Luċija. Christmas with your crush on Gozo

Christmas is celebrated in unique style on Gozo from early December through to early January and is a wonderful time of year for a romantic break.

Just wandering around the streets of Gozo’s capital Victoria you’ll see traditional processions, beautiful choirs singing hymns, and Xmas markets. It’s a special time for closeness.
