Autumn is a fabulous time to visit Gozo. The sizzling summer temperatures give way to warm days and cooler nights. So exploring Gozo’s amazing coastline and rich cultural heritage is easier.

And there are still lots of entertainment and cultural events happening around the island to keep you busy. Most of these events are focused on music, food and wine – which tells you all you need to know about Gozo’s priorities!
Autumn is harvest time for Gozo’s olive and wine producers and if you’re visiting Gozo at this time you can join in the harvest. Our blog post Enjoy a hands on harvest experience tells you how. And after a couple of years’ absence due to the pandemic, the Delicata Wine Festival in Nadur is back in September.
September sees the last of Gozo’s village festas as well as the tail end of the outdoor live music and entertainment programmes around the island.
And in October Gozo’s internationally renowned Festival Mediterranea returns after a two-year haitus, featuring Bizet’s famous opera Carmen at Teatru Astra in Victoria.

Food & Wine
3 & 4 September: Delicata Classic Wine Festival, Nadur
The Covid pandemic meant that this popular annual festival had to cancelled for the past two years. However, it’s back in Nadur for the first weekend in September 2022 for its 18th year.
Run by Malta’s Delicata Winery and the Nadur Local Council, the festival offers visitors the chance to sample more than 20 wines from stalls located in the Gnien il-Kunsill gardens. There will also be food to go with the wines.
17 September: Traditions: Olive Oil, Wine & Honey, Għasri
The village of Għasri once again plays host to this fun event that celebrates some of Gozo’s best-loved produce. There will be plenty of food and wine to sample, plus live entertainment.

Triumphant in all senses, Verdi’s everlasting masterpiece, the quintessential opera in so many ways, returns to the Aurora with heart-melting arias and rousing choruses that withstood the test of time, for the third time, after 13 years. Aida marks the opening of the 2022-23 theatre season in Gozo, being the very first opera in the post COVID-19 opera season in Gozo.
27 & 29 October: Festival Mediterranea, Victoria
This internationally famous cultural festival returns to Victoria’s Teatru Astra opera house after a two-year break with a double performance of Bizet’s Carmen.
You can see that Gozo’s cultural and entertainment calendar is beginning to get back to normal. There is plenty to keep everyone happy, whatever your age or tastes.
