Make 2017 the year you discover the secrets of Gozo!

Posted on 01 January 2017

Our lovely island of Gozo makes a perfect destination for a holiday, with relaxing beaches, a stunning coastline to explore, pretty villages, impressive historical sites and delicious Gozitan cuisine. And with around 300 days of sunshine every year, Gozo can be enjoyed all year round.

Tempted? Then you’ll be pleased to know that with Air Malta and Ryanair both adding more flights to Malta from European cities in 2017, there’s never been a better time for you to book a holiday in beautiful Gozo.

Air Malta’s summer 2017 schedule

Malta’s national carrier, Air Malta, operates the most frequent schedule of flights to and from Malta and has announced it will be operating 150 weekly flights to 29 destinations from 26 March until 28 October 2017.

Extra flights will be operated on the airline’s routes from Malta to the following European cities:

  • Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, Zurich, Lyon, Rome, Catania, Palermo, Prague and Moscow.
  • In peak summer, double daily flights will operate to Munich, Rome and Catania.

There will be fewer flights during the summer season on the London Gatwick, Berlin, Manchester and Geneva routes. And the flights to Athens and Frankfurt will be dropped.

However, twice daily flights will still operate on the Frankfurt route via Air Malta’s code-share agreement with Lufthansa. Other code-sharing agreements continue with Air France, Alitalia, Aeroflot, Austrian Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Czech Airlines, Meridiana, Swiss Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Air Malta continues to be the main charter operator in and out of Malta.

Other key European cities that Air Malta flies from include:

UK:                 London, Glascow, Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, Manchester and Norwich.

Germany:      Berlin, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Munich.

Italy:                Milan, Parma, Venice.

Getting to Gozo

As Gozo doesn’t have an airport, to reach Gozo visitors must take the 25-minute ferry crossing from Cirkewwa in Malta to Mgarr Harbour on Gozo. The Gozo Channel Ferry operates a frequent schedule throughout the day.

It’s a pleasant trip and watching Gozo’s coastline get closer adds to the anticipation of arrival. And with free wi-fi offered in the ferry terminals as well as on board, you can even start planning your Gozo itinerary and make dinner reservations while you travel.

We’ve put together a short video to show guests how easy it is to get to your Baron Holiday Home on Gozo:

We can organise for a driver to take you from Malta airport all the way to your Baron Holiday Home. Alternatively, for those guests who want to hire a car for their Gozo holiday, we offer free delivery and pick up from your Baron appartment, villa or farmhouse. More details about getting to Gozo can be found on our website.
